The Texas Department of State Health Services informed the City of Lubbock Health Department on Wednesday it would not have adequate vaccine supply for Lubbock school vaccinications the until December.
The state has allocated the limited supply of vaccine to providers who serve pregnant women, children 2 through 4 years of age, children 5 through 18 who are at a higher risk of serious consequences should they get the flu, and health care workers who provide direct patient care.
Initial quantities are not high enough for public vaccination clinics, state officials said. The state had received 960,000 vaccine doses on Tuesday.
City officials said they have met with and remain in contact with Lubbock County School superintendents to address this issue.
