Bogot?, February 23 .- Colombia purchased 500 thousand doses of vaccine against the H1N1 virus, two million to acquire the Revolving Fund of the Pan American Health Organization, informed the Minister of Social Protection, Diego Palacio.

"This is a great effort we have undertaken, in agreement with the countries of the region to reduce mortality in high risk groups," said Palacio.

The authorities will give priority to "Pregnant women and those with underlying diseases that may present serious complications, in case of being infected.

As provided in the delivery schedule, PAHO sent to the country and a half million remaining doses the first week of March starting the campaign national vaccination.

The vaccine against H1N1, the cause of human influenza "was made with the same support technological with which manufactures the vaccine against seasonal influenza and has been deemed safe by the World Health Organization.
