Costa Rica decreed mandatory vaccination against influenza A (H1N1)

January 22, 2010, 08:16San Jose, Jan 22 (Prensa Latina) The government of Costa Rica ruled that mandatory vaccination against influenza A (H1N1) in the country.
The executive decree, published yesterday in the official Gazette, coincides with the arrival in the Central American nation's first batch of flu vaccines.
At 03:00 local time Costa Rican soil arrived from France aircraft with 199 thousand 300 doses, which will be provided in principle to the most vulnerable groups such as pregnant women, diabetics and asthmatics.
According to the decree will also be vaccinated hypertensives, cardiac patients, morbidly obese and some groups of immunocompromised patients.
Health Minister Maria Luisa Avila said that if a person with risk factor opposes be immunized, the police could force by force.
Both the Social Security Fund (CCSS) and Health expect to start the vaccination campaign on Monday for free to all.
