But as Alberta scrambles to bring in the last available vaccines from Italy, Gardam says the efforts are futile as the flu season has already peaked.

"Alberta has already had the majority of cases its likely going to have this year," Gardam said. "Getting a flu shot now is like falling out of a boat, and saying: ?Damn it, I wish I would have brought a life jacket.'"
