BEIJING (Dow Jones)--In the latest sign of growing trade tensions, the European Union has begun a dumping probe on imports of coated fine paper, such as those used in brochures and other glossy products, from China.
In a notice issued through the E.U.'s official journal Thursday, the European Commission didn't name any Chinese companies, but it requested that Chinese paper manufacturers provide information to the E.U., including the amount of coated fine paper they exported to the 27-country market in 2009. Chinese companies have 15 days to submit such information, according to the notice in the E.U.'s official journal.
