Increased surveillance in a hundred municipalities
In the middle of the afternoon, the prefecture of Saône-et-Loire published a list of more than a hundred municipalities, located in an area of 20 kilometers around Montret, which will be subject to additional surveillance. Concretely, in the municipalities concerned, the movement of poultry and other captive birds is prohibited (unless waived by the Departmental Directorate for the Protection of Populations). Farmers must also carry out checks on their poultry, to detect possible cases.
A high risk of dissemination since November
As a reminder, the level of risk of bird flu was raised from "moderate" to "high" in early November. " The health situation with regard to highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) has continued to deteriorate in recent weeks ," said the Ministry of Agriculture. " Thus, all poultry must be sheltered throughout the territory and gatherings of poultry are prohibited. "
