“A first outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza” was confirmed on Saturday in this Somme farm, the prefecture said in a press release, specifying that to avoid any risk of spreading the virus to other farms, “regulated areas protection and surveillance have been put in place within a radius of 3 to 10 km". In these perimeters, "all places of detention of poultry and captive birds are subject to specific requirements" , in particular the prohibition of "movements of poultry and captive birds" .
Since November, France has recorded more than 1,300 outbreaks of avian influenza in farms, leading to the slaughter of almost 20 million poultry on the territory . Avian flu continues to rage in the east of the Somme. After the discovery of a dead swan in Cléry-sur-Somme in mid-July, it is a turkey farm in the commune of Feuillères which has just been affected on the weekend of July 30. Individuals and professionals affected by the restrictions
Within these perimeters, all places where poultry and captive birds are kept are subject to specific requirements. In particular, the movement of poultry and products derived from poultry (eggs, meat, slurry, droppings) is prohibited, except for derogations granted by the departmental directorate for the Protection of Populations (DDPP). All birds, whether from commercial farms or simple backyards, should be kept on their premises to avoid contact with wild animals.
