France (Bouches du Rhone). 25 Nov 2013. Dengue 21 Oct 2013, locally acquired 1 case. Imported dengue cases in 17 departments, 168 cases.

[Fortunately, the one locally acquired case occurred late in the season, apparently without further ongoing transmission. Southern France has established populations of _Aedes albopictus_, competent vectors of dengue and chikungunya viruses. Given the frequency of dengue cases imported into France, the risk of initiation of an outbreak is real. However, France has an active surveillance effort that detects cases early on.
