In the week 5/2012 (30 January - 05 February 2012) visits to a physician
for flu-like syndrome shows further increase over the previous
weeks, but are lower than those of the corresponding week of
prior-year period 2010-2011, during which 5 the weeks had been the culmination of wave of the flu. It is also a little higher than those of the corresponding weeks during the 2009-2010 pandemic, where at the 5
the weeks was already resolved the pandemic wave (Figure 1).

 In the week 5/2012 (30 January - 05 February 2012) were sent to
Influenza Reference Laboratories total of 46 clinical samples. 30 (65.2%) of them were positive for influenza viruses, namely: 14 (46.7%) for influenza B virus and 16 (53.3%) for virus influenza A (H3N2) (Figure 2).

 Until Thursday, February 9, 2012 (time 15:00), in Greece have recorded ten a.m. (10) Serious cases of laboratory-confirmed influenza requiring hospitalization in Intensive Care Unit (Figure 3).

 Until Thursday, February 9, 2012 (time 15:00), in Greece have recorded two (2) deaths in patients with laboratory confirmed influenza were hospitalized in ICU (Figure 4). One of these two cases were imported.

 In the week 5/2012 (30 January - 05 February 2012) the mortality

During the current period is a weekly summary of epidemiological data in the country Our week 8/2012 (20-26 February 2012).
 At week 8/2012 (20-26 February 2012) visits to a doctor for flu-like contribution show a slight decline compared with last week, but remain high levels. They are also much higher than those of the corresponding week of prior-year period 2010-2011 and the period of 2009-2010 pandemic, which at 8 the weeks was resolved in the epidemic and the pandemic wave, respectively (Figure 1).
 At week 8/2012 (20-26 February 2012) were sent to reference laboratories Influenza A total of 97 clinical samples. 63 (65%) of them were positive for influenza viruses. The 40 (63.5%) of the positive samples were influenza B virus and 23 (36.5%) were influenza virus type A (H3N2) (Figure 2).
 Until Thursday, March 1, 2012 (time 13:00), recorded in Greece forty-seven (47) Serious cases of laboratory-confirmed influenza requiring hospitalization in Unit Intensive Care (ICU) and a serious incident not hospitalized in ICU (Figure 5).
 Until Thursday, March 1, 2012 (time 13:00), in Greece have recorded eleven (11) deaths. These related deaths in 10 patients with laboratory confirmed influenza who took admission to the ICU and in 1 patient who was hospitalized in ICU (Figure 6). One of the eleven these cases were imported.  At week 8/2012 (20-26 February 2012) in Greece mortality from all causes ranged within the expected (Figure 7) Based on the above, the influenza activity is still high, while strains of circulating influenza continue to be the B and A (H3N2)

Epidemiological Surveillance of Influenza
March 8, 2012

During the current period is a weekly summary of epidemiological data
in our country for the week 9/2012 (February 27 - March 4, 2012).
 In the week 9/2012 (27 February - 4 March 2012) visits to a physician for
flu-like syndrome shows an increase compared with last week
remained high. They are also much higher than the corresponding weeks of last season and the 2010-2011 period of the pandemic 2009-2010, where in 9
theweeks was resolved in the epidemic and pandemic wave, respectively (Figure 1).
 In the week 9/2012 (27 February - 4 March 2012) sent to Influenza Reference Laboratories total of 82 clinical samples. The 53 (64.6%) of them were positive for influenza viruses. The 23 (43.4%) of the positive samples were influenza B virus and 30 (56.6%) were influenza virus type A (H3N2) (Figure 2).
 Until Thursday, March 8, 2012 (time 13:00), Greece recorded seventy
(70) Serious cases of laboratory-confirmed influenza requiring hospitalization inIntensive Care Unit (ICU) and four (4) no serious incidents
hospitalized in ICU (Figure 5).
 Until Thursday, March 8, 2012 (time 13:00), recorded in Greece fifteen
(15) deaths. These deaths were related to eleven (11) patients with laboratory confirmed influenza requiring hospitalization in the ICU and four (4) patients not admitted to ICU (Figure 6). One of these fifteen cases were
imported.
 In the week 9/2012 (27 February - 4 March 2012) the mortality in Greece
from all causes ranged within the expected (Figure 7)
Based on the above, the influenza activity continues to be in high, while the strains of influenza virus circulating continue to be the A (H3N2) and B.

Epidemiological Surveillance of Influenza

During the current period is a weekly summary of epidemiological data
in our country for the week 10/2012 (5 - 11 March 2012).

 In the week 10/2012 (5-11 March 2012) visits to the doctor for flu-like
syndrome occurs decline compared with last week, still
but remain high. They are also much higher than
those of the corresponding weeks of last season and the 2010-2011 period
2009-2010 pandemic, which at 10 weeks was resolved in the epidemic and
pandemic wave, respectively (Figure 1). Please note that registration is required decline in influenza activity for at least two consecutive weeks in order Login to document a period of epidemic wave resolved.
 In the week 10/2012 (5-11 March 2012) were sent to reference laboratories Influenza total of 190 clinical samples. The 107 (56.3%) of them were positive for influenza viruses.
55 (51.4%) of the positive samples were influenza B virus and 52 (48.6%) were virus Influenza A (H3N2) (Figure 2).
 Until Thursday, March 15, 2012 (time 13:00), Greece recorded eighty
(83) Serious cases of laboratory-confirmed influenza requiring hospitalization in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and four (4) no serious incidents
hospitalized in ICU (Figure 5).
 Until Thursday, March 15, 2012 (time 13:00), in Greece have recorded twenty (20) deaths. These deaths were related to sixteen (16) patients with laboratory confirmed influenza requiring hospitalization in the ICU and four (4) patients not admitted to ICU (Figure 6). One of these twenty cases were
imported.
 In the week 10/2012 (5-11 March 2012) the mortality in Greece by all
causes increased marginally compared with the expected (Figure 8)
Based on the above, the influenza activity continues to be in
high, while the strains of influenza virus circulating continue to be the A (H3N2) and B.
