2 villages in Anand declared cholera-hit

"At Boria, the surrounding area up to 10-km has been declared as cholera prone. As many as 229 cases of diarrhoea and vomiting were reported from the area so far. On Friday, 30 new cases were reported," he said.
Although a nine-year-old child had died in Petlad taluka on Friday, [district health officer R B] Patel said the death wasn't a case of cholera, but due to cardiac problems.
"The kid was admitted after he started vomiting, but he was later admitted at the cardiac unit of Karamsad hospital as it was a case of cardiac problem," he said.
Last week more than 50 cases of diarrhoea and vomiting were reported in Silvai, of which one was confirmed as cholera infection. "The situation is now under control," said Patel, adding that the drinking water sources in the area got contaminated after rains.
