Lalpur declared cholera-hit, 14 cases reported

RAJKOT: Following reports of some positive cases of cholera from Lalpur in Jamangar district, the district administration in a precautionary measure has declared the small town and its peripheral areas as 'cholera-affected'. According to district health officials, on December 19, several cases of diarrhoea and vomitting were reported from Lalpur and patients were admitted to a local government hospital.
Later, the cases were confirmed as cholera and the district administration swung into action. According to health department officials, 14 positive cases of cholera have so far been reported from Lalpur. About 280 patients have been treated at the hospital's OPD.
Epidemic medical officer of Jamangar district Dr Ashok Bhasin said the situation was under control and eight water samples had been sent to laboratory for various tests like bacterial, chemical and physical among others.
Sources said about 36 patients have been referred to Civil Hospital in Jamnagar as a precautionary measure. "We have initiated all possible measures .....
