H1N1 hospital
COIMBATORE: India?s first-ever hospital for treating H1N1 patients, set up by the Coimbatore corporation, was ?shut down? even before its formal
opening. This followed protests from locals, who feared the spread of the deadly virus in their locality if the hospital was allowed to function.
The civic body?s hospital at Pappanaickenpalayam was given a facelift and an isolation ward was being readied. But on Friday, residents of Pappanaickenpalayam staged a protest. The civic administration then decided to ?temporarily? shelve the proposal for the H1N1 hospital.
