THE Department of Health (DOH)-Eastern Visayas has reported that at least 12 children have acquired AH1N1 in the region from January up to July 22 this year.
A health official, however, said that there is nothing much to be alarmed on the existence of the Influenza A (H1N1) cases in the region since the AH1N1 virus is already considered an ?endemic disease? in the country.

?It is now regarded as a common flu. The virus has established its endemicity in the country that is why we have cases of AH1N1,? Boyd Cerro, regional sentinel nurse, said.
Based on their January to July record, 12 children, age four months to 10 years old, were confirmed to have the AH1N1 virus.
The health bureau reported that of these 12 children, five were from Tacloban City, four from Tanauan, two from Palo, and one from Dulag.
Seven were treated at the Leyte Provincial Hospital, two at the Tacloban City Hospital and three at the Tanauan Rural Health Center. The DOH also provided AH1N1 vaccines for these children.
