HOUSTON - The H1N1 death toll in the Houston area is now up to 18, FOX 26 News has learned.
Harris County reported Wednesday that of a male between the ages of 10 and 18 years died. Galveston County officials also reported its first death Wednesday after an autopsy confirmed a woman between the ages 30 and 35 died from swine flu.
The 18-count death toll includes residents of Harris County; Fort Bend County; Galveston County; and Brazoria County and residents from inside the Houston city limits.
Nationwide, there have been more than 1,000 H1N1 deaths.

HOUSTON - Two more Houston residents have died from swine flu, according to the city's Website.
Houstonflu.org posted on Thursday two more H1N1 deaths that were reported Wednesday. Both victims were women, one between the ages of 50 and 64 and the other between the ages of 25 and 49.
The women's deaths have brought the Houston area swine flu death toll up to 20.
The death toll includes residents of Harris County; Fort Bend County; Galveston County; and Brazoria County and residents from inside the Houston city limits.
Nationwide, there have been more than 1,000 H1N1 deaths.
Two more swine flu deaths were reported in Houston on Thursday.
Both were women. The first died on Oct. 14 and was in the 25-to-29 age group. The other woman, in the 50-to-64 age group, died on Oct. 21. There was no available information about whether either had underlying health conditions, a city health department spokesman said.
The deaths bring Houston's tally of H1N1 deaths to eight, matching the number in Harris County. In all, there have been 21 reported deaths in the metro area since April 15, including three in Fort Bend County and one each in Brazoria and Galveston counties.
HOUSTON - Swine flu has claimed the lives of four more Houston-area residents, bringing the death toll up to 26.
Among the four victims is a resident of Montgomery County, which had yet to report any deaths. The other three victims were residents of Harris County.
The 26 deaths include residents from Houston and Harris, Fort Bend, Galveson and Brazoria counties.
At least 10 of the deaths were victims between the ages of 25 and 29, and at least three were residents between 50 and 64.
At least four victims were children up to 18 years old, including a baby boy who was between 6 and 11 months old.
Nationwide, there have been more than 1,000 H1N1 deaths.
