POCATELLO — Lauren Speaker said her fiancé, Troy Edginton, thought he had the flu, but then he developed a severe headache and his temperature spiked at 103 degrees, the headache combined with extreme fatigue caused her to rush him to Portneuf Medical Center the Saturday before Christmas.

Edginton was diagnosed with a rare form of viral meningitis encephalitis, and doctors are still working to determine what caused the infection...

An update to his YouCaring page on 1/1/2014 reports that Mr. Edginton cannot breathe on his own and paralyzed below chest level.

The Idaho State Journal article also reported that even after a recent MRI found that the brain swelling had cleared, pneumonia and an infection in his lungs was keeping him ill.
