The Ministry of Health reported in this Thursday (21), the Brazilian delegation has adopted in World Health Assembly in Geneva, resolution that returns the issue of sharing of information on influenza A (H1N1) and all new flu in the agenda of discussions worldwide.
The attempt to block the measure a group of countries to conclude negotiations on the subject. The resolution puts the World Health Organization (WHO) in the role of articulating international to promote and facilitate access to data on the virus, in addition to medicines, vaccines and supplies for diagnosis.
The text was endorsed by all the countries of Africa and South America, as well as representatives of Asia, like Indonesia and Thailand.
Health Minister Jose Gomes Tempor?o, celebrated the approval of the resolution. "The measure brings transparency to the process of negotiation and access to information about pandemic influenza, such as influenza A (H1N1). It promotes an inclusive model, which should benefit all countries, particularly those in development," he said. In his speech at the opening of the assembly, Tempor?o had argued that the information and benefits obtained by the worldwide network of monitoring were treated as public goods.
For the text adopted, all the understandings achieved will be applied immediately and the outstanding gaps will be discussed in meetings that add all the countries concerned.
From this model documents are drafted with clear rules and commitments of linkage between the countries. The intention of Brazil to lead the process was to make available all information on the influenza A (H1N1) and other new viruses.
