Denpasar, Bali ::: Japanese tourist suspected having H1N1 flu infection


Denpasar, Bali ? A Japanese tourist, Kuri Akira (50), suspected having H1N1 or swine flu infection. Suspect is now under intensive treatment at Sanglah Hospital, Denpasar.

Victim has been treated since early morning, 02.13 am, Thursday (28/5), Sanglah Hospital. Akira arrived at Bali, after travelling from Osaka, Japan by Japan Airlines. After arrival at Ngurah Rai airport, victim was rushed to Sanglah hospital.

?Victim is having cold, fever over 38℃, sore throat, indicating H1N1 flu infection?, said the Secretary of H1N1 Virus Control Team, dr Ken Wirasandi.

It?s also reported that victim flew to Bali while his son was ill (in Japan ?adm). However, victim?s son illness has not been identified yet. During the flight from Osaka to Bali, victim was complaining sick to flight crews.

As he arrived at Ngurah Rai hospital, Port Health Office officers referred victim to Sanglah hospital. ?According to the procedure, victim should receive treatment in hospital. This is one of protection effort mentioned in standard procedure?, said Wirasandi.

Medical team has als collected blood and throat swab samples for laboratory examination. ?We?re still waiting for the result?, said Wirasandi.

Previously, a Dutch tourist, Michelle van Derson (32) was detected as H1N1 flu suspect in Bali. But, after treatment at Sanglah hospital, she was then tested negative H1N1 flu.

Denpasar, Bali ? Bali is still safe from H1N1 flu or swine flu. A Japanese tourist, Kuri Akira (50), who was treated at Sanglah hospital Denpasar, tested negative H1N1 flu.

Physical examination showed a good condition, no fever, coughing, cold and sneezing. ?He will return home today?, said Somia.

The Japanese tourist, Akira, found resnponsive to H1N1 flu infection. When he visited Bali with his wife, he had antipyretic paracetamol and tamiflu as required by his government. He arrived at Bali, Thursday (28/5).

?He took paracetamol at the airplane because of fever?, said Somia.

Patient had no contact history with H1N1 flu patient in his country. He was also corporate well during examination.

After the treatment at Sanglah hospital, now he will continue his vacation in Bali.
