[h=3]Abstract[/h] A panel of influenza A viruses expressing chimeric hemagglutinins (cHA) with intragroup or intergroup head/stalk combinations was generated. Viruses were characterized for growth kinetics and preservation of stalk epitopes. With few notable exceptions, cHA viruses behaved similar to wild type viruses and maintained stalk epitopes, which indicated their potential as vaccine candidates to induce stalk-specific antibodies.
