Infant contracted measles from worker at Wichita restaurant

WICHITA, Kan. -

A Wichita family learns their baby has been exposed to measles after eating at an East Wichita restaurant.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment first told us Thursday of the two confirmed cases in Wichita. Tonight, we know where it originated.

Eyewitness reporter Michael Schwanke spoke with the mother of a 3-month-old recovering after contracting the virus while eating at Sal's Japanese Steakhouse in late June...

State health department traces 4 measles cases to Wichita restaurant

Four measles cases in Sedgwick County have been traced to Sal?s Japanese Steakhouse in Wichita, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment confirmed Saturday.

The department is asking that anyone who ate at the restaurant at 6829 E. Kellogg on June 20, 23, 25 and 29 and July 3, 5 and 7 and later developed a fever and rash call their doctor.

One case was an adult who worked at Sal?s and whose measles traced back to an outbreak in the Kansas City area. Two other adults also were employees at Sal?s. The fourth case was ?in an unvaccinated infant whose only known exposure was at the restaurant,? a news release from KDHE said Saturday...

The health department says anyone who dined at the restaurant on July 11 or 12 is at risk for developing measles...

KDHE confirms 11 cases of measles in Sedgwick County

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment announced Tuesday it had confirmed three more measles cases in Sedgwick County. That brings the total number of cases to 11.

Preston Goering, director of the county?s Preventative Health division, first broke the news Tuesday morning to county commissioners.

At a Sedgwick County Commission staff meeting Tuesday morning, Goering said the county is ?expecting more cases to come up,? at least through the second week of August...
