Liberian, W.H.O. Delays, Omissions, Irregularities Won't Hide Worsening EVD Infection Rates

In contrast to W.H.O. and Liberia, Sierra Leone continues its timely, regular release of day-old short-period EVD data, showing 31 new confirmed cases yesterday 9-13, which if continued would double their current 1432 cumulative confirmed cases to 2864 in 46 days. Their increase of 35 confirmed-suspected-probable cases from the 9/12 1551 total to 1586 yesterday would double their 'CSP' case total to 3172 in 45 days:

Continued Liberian increases of 60-70 confirmed-suspect-probable cases per day, when finally revealed after their most recent 4 day old release for 9/10, would double their 2407 total cumulative 'CSP' cases to over 4800 in 35-40 days; a not-unrealistic worsening rate of say 80-90 CSP cases per day would suggest a doubling to over 4800 cases in just 26 to 30 days, and their 2 day, 9/9-9/10 CSP case increase of 231 would double their last reported 2407 case total to 4800 in just 21 days, by Sep. 30, and then possibly to 10,000 CSP cases as soon as Oct. 21st.

My opinion remains that Liberia's and W.H.O.'s reasoning to obscure public and HCW recognition of the deteriorating and threatening EVD increase by issuing delayed, irregular, uncomparable and incomplete data, is specious.

I think WHO and Liberia have their hands full and are putting case counts on the back burner. Saving lives and containment are more important with limited man power.

Of course. It must be a chaotic, indescribable and tragic scramble for life and safety...the numbers from which will eventually emerge, worse that imagined.
