Malaysia uses rapid test for A/H1N1 flu

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's hospitals and clinics have used rapid testing of A/H1N1 flu for three groups of patients, said Malaysian Health Ministry Liow Tiong Lai on Thursday.
Liow said that patients with flu-like symptoms, co-morbid and persistent fever would be tested to confirm if they were infected by Type A flu within 15 minutes.
He said that patients with confirmed Type A flu would be given anti-viral treatment immediately, while waiting for further testing for A/H1N1 flu.
He added that the rapid test would be used in both private and public medical centers to ease the congestion of laboratory testing for A/H1N1 flu.
Liow reminded the public not panic for the epidemic because most patients of A/H1N1 flu have high recovery rate of 98 percent.
