The Middlesex-London Health Unit is expected to announce later today that the London region has its first confirmed case of the H1N1 virus that?s caused fear of a pandemic around the world.
Details of the case were not immediately available.
Health officials are planning to hold a press conference this afternoon but Dan Flaherty, communications manager for the health unit, declined comment, citing provincial protocols.
Previously, the health unit said several residents from London and Middlesex County were being tested for the H1N1 virus, but no results were available.
The unit said it is monitoring the virus and several local people who returned recently from Mexico with flu-like symptoms.
