BRASILIA - The Ministry of Health announced a reinforcement of R$ 70,3 millions in order that Only one of Health (SUS) financed the enlargement and the qualification of beds of Unity of Intensive Therapy (ICU) in the System.
The measure creates 471 new beds and increase go over again it of resources in 63 hospitals distributed in 11 states - Bahia, Cear?, Big Rio of the North, Goi?s, Federal area, Paran?, Rio Grande do Sul, Sao Paulo, Rio of January, Holy Spirit and Minas Gerais.
Of new unities, 262 are for the adults' treatment - bigger demand of the country - while 156 are for the service of newborn babies and 53 for children. In accordance with the National Register of the Establishments of Health (Cnes), the SUS disposes, at present, of 16.875 beds of ICU. In the particular net, they are 10.286, totalizing 27.161 unities.
The foresight, in accordance with the ministry, is that R$ 270 millions will be still invested this year in the strengthening and in the enlargement of the public net of ICU. The objective, according to the briefcase, is to face a second wave of the epidemic of influenza A (H1N1) - pig flu.
In accordance with the ministry, all the 26 states and the Federal area are going to receive, up to June, a total of 6.159 respirators, monitors and ox?metros. With the equipments, it will be possible to equip or to introduce up to 1.875 beds.
