ITAHARI: Samples of dead chicken collected from a farm at the Itahari-based PK Poultry tested positive for bird flu in course of tests at the Kathmandu-based central laboratory.
A government team under Dr Bolaraj Acharya had not bothered to inspect the farm after poultry farm owner Nirmal Shrestha insisted that the section of the poultry, where 3,500 fowls had died some days ago, was free from bird flu.

ITAHARI, Feb 12: After it was confirmed that more chickens of PK Poultry farm in Itahari were infected with bird flu, 4853 chickens were culled on Sunday. Eggs and chicken feed have also been destroyed completely. Just a week ago, 3500 chickens had died of the H5N1 virus at the farm.
Similarly, 700 fowls were culled in Jhapa after the virus was detected among chickens at Pathamari, Arjundhara and Charpane...

KATHMANDU: Three years after grappling with the country?s first bird flu outbreak, Jhapa district has reported yet another flu scare. The disease that struck Kakadvitta of the district three years ago has hit poultry farms in Pathamari, Arjundhara and Charpane this time, Dr Ram Krishna Khatiwada, programme officer at the Directorate of Animal Health under the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives confirmed today.
Dr Khatiwada said they have called the chickens at Arjundhara and Charpane, adding that the culling at Pathamari will be over tomorrow...

JHAPA: A government team of experts and technicians culled fowls at two bird flu-affected farms in Jhapa today. District Livestock Office Jhapa chief Dr Radheshyam Mandal said they culled 140 fowls at Arjundhara VDC and 840 chickens at Charpane VDC. Samples of the dead chickens collected from the farms of Gopal Oli at Arjundhara, Devendra Shrestha at Charpane, Nijam Miya and Saijal Miya at Pathmari VDC-1 in Jhapa had tested positive for bird flu at the central laboratory in Kathmandu yesterday...
