POKHARA: Hundreds of diseased fowls were culled in Kaski?s Lekhnath Kalikachowk, following confirmation of bird flu in the area, on Tuesday. About 555 chickens and 40 kg chicken-feed were destroyed at a poultry farm owned by Basant Shrestha, said Dr Bansi Sharma, director, Regional Livestock Directorate. On Monday, the lab test confirmed bird flu in the dead fowls sent by the poultry farm seven days ago. Shrestha?s farm will be put under surveillance for three months. Dr Sharma said the farm owner will be compensated. ?

POKHARA, July 28: Veterinary technicians have culled 27 chickens here at a Lamachaur-based poultry farm owned by Roshan Pun following the confirmation of a bird flu outbreak, on Sunday...

POKHARA: Bird flu has been confirmed in Lamachaur and Gharipatan of Kaski.
The Western Regional Livestock Service Directorate today disclosed that the Capital-based Regional Livestock Research Laboratory had confirmed the presence of H5N1 virus in the samples sent from a fresh house belonging to Roshan Garbuja Pun of Lamachaur and from a poultry farm belonging to Shiv Bahadur Paudel in Gharipatan, eight days ago.
Western Regional Livestock Service Directorate Director Dr Banshi Sharma said the samples of dead fowls from the fresh house and the farm had been sent for tests to the Capital a week ago...
