Hamilton public health is investigating four cases of legionnaires? disease that have surfaced around the city over the last two months.
The illness, which is a type of pneumonia caused by a bacterium called legionella found mostly in warm-water environments, tends to turn up during the later summer, Hamilton?s associate medical officer of health Dr. Chris Mackie said.
?The main thing that we saw was remarkable was the fact that we?re getting cases at this time of year at all,? he said. ?It?s unusual to get a whole bunch of sporadic cases at this time...?
