A traveler visiting the Portland area for a tennis tournament last week was suffering from measles, a highly contagious infection...

...The Washington County Health & Human Services Department say people who were at these locations at the times specified may have been exposed:

Thursday, Aug. 15

7:30-10 a.m.: continental breakfast at Shilo Hotel (Canyon Road)

Noon-2:30 p.m.: Michael?s Craft Store (Evergreen)
12:30-3 p.m.: Sports Authority (next to Michael?s)
1:15-4 p.m.: Sweet Tomatoes (Beaverton)
2:10-5:15 p.m.: West View High School tennis courts
3:30-7:30 p.m.: West Hills Tennis Club
7-9:45 p.m.: Fred Meyer on Southwest Walker Road and 158th Avenue

Overseas trip brings measles to Oregon

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) ? Hundreds of people in Portland and Beaverton hospitals were exposed to measles without knowing it...

...The Washington County Department of Health reported Thursday that the infected child received medical care at both Oregon Health & Science University Doernbecher Children?s Hospital and the Kaiser Beaverton Medical Office.

The exposure risk happened during specific times at the following places, according to the multi-county alert:

OHSU emergency from noon to 9:40 p.m. on Halloween,
OHSU's Doernbecher hospital from 7:35 p.m. to midnight this past Thursday, all day Friday and all day Saturday until 9:10 p.m.,
the UPS store on Walker Road in Beaverton from 3:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. Monday, and
the Kaiser Beaverton Medical Office from 4:20 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday and from 11:50 a.m. to 3:20 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5...

Clark County child diagnosed with measles
Child exposed to someone with disease in Portland

A Clark County child has been diagnosed with the measles.

The elementary school-aged child contracted the highly contagious respiratory disease after coming into contact with someone in Portland who had the disease. Last month, Oregon health officials warned people of possible measles exposure at a Portland hospital, a Beaverton medical clinic and a Beaverton UPS store.

The Clark County child came into contact with an infected person at one of those locations and was placed under surveillance by health officials, said Dr. Alan Melnick, Clark County Public Health administrator/officer. Health officials told the child’s parents what symptoms to watch for, Melnick said.

The child — whose gender and age has not been disclosed — developed a rash on Sunday, Nov. 24. People with measles are contagious from four days before rash onset to four days after rash onset, Melnick said.

The child attended school at Harmony Elementary School on Monday, Nov. 25. Once health officials learned the child had developed a rash, they worked with the school to identify students who may have been exposed to the disease, Melnick said...
