So far this month, four cases of whooping cough have been diagnosed in Lane County, and while that may not sound like much, ?Even one is a lot,? said Jason Davis, spokesman for the Lane County Department of Health and Human Services.

That?s because for every single case of the malady more accurately called pertussis , as many as 16 more people are likely to be exposed, Davis said...

From a press release

Klamath County has observed an increase in pertussis (Whooping Cough) since the end of May among Klamath County?s pediatric population, according to a county health department press release.

Eleven children and adolescents, age ranged from 2 through 15 have been diagnosed with laboratory-confirmed pertussis. We believe in consultation with the Oregon Public Health Division that this is a community-wide outbreak and at a minimum there is on-going transmission of pertussis in Klamath County...

So far this year, the Marion County Health Department has received 45 reports of pertussis. In 2013, there was a total of 50...

TriMet notifies Portlanders after bus driver diagnosed with whooping cough

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Doctors diagnosed a TriMet bus driver with whooping cough, leading the Portland transit agency to issue a media alert notifying Portlanders in case they have concerns about the illness.

The bus driver drove the No. 10 route from 5:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. That route starts at Foster and 94th Avenue, winds through southeast Portland, crosses the Hawthorne Bridge and finishes in downtown Portland, as well as the reverse of those directions...
