Four die of gastroenteritis

BERHAMPUR: Four persons died of water-borne gastro diseases like diarrhoea or food poisoning in Gunupur block of Rayagada district on Monday.
The victims were from Titimiri panchayat. They were Kuni Sabar (21) of Bhimapurguda village, Droupadi Sabar (16), Samuel Sabar (4), Salika Sabar (55) from the Putusasahi village.
Reports of several other persons from nearby villages getting affected by gastro diseases have also come up.
According to Rayagada district Collector Nitin Bhanudas Jawale, administration and Health department has taken up the matter seriously and four medical teams from Rayagada and Gunupur have been rushed to the area on Tuesday to provide necessary medical help.
These medical teams would also investigate into the cause of outbreak of gastro cases in the area.
Meanwhile 12 persons suffering from gastro infection have been admitted in the Dambasara primary health centre and 20 others have been admitted in the Gunupur sub-divisional hospital. The medical teams are to provide their report to the district Collector on Tuesday night.
