Prince Edward Island is currently experiencing an outbreak of whooping cough, says Dr. Heather Morrison, chief public health officer.

There are currently six confirmed cases of pertussis, known as whooping cough, in Prince Edward Island, while some additional potential cases are still being confirmed...

P.E.I. health officials are still dealing with an outbreak of whooping cough.

There have been 25 confirmed cases in the province this year.

Dr. Heather Morrison, the chief public health officer, sent a letter to Summerside Intermediate School last week saying that students may have been in contact with a student with the illness...

...There have been 24 cases of whooping cough since the outbreak was confirmed. Anyone, regardless of age, can contract whooping cough. It is of particular concern in newborns as they can become extremely ill and develop serious complications...
