Erie County sees 'mini-outbreak' of syphilis

Erie County is experiencing a "mini-outbreak" of syphilis.

Six cases of the sexually transmitted disease have been reported so far in July to the Erie County Department of Health. It's the most syphilis cases in one month in at least 13 years...

More syphilis found in Erie County

It's no longer considered a "mini-outbreak," but syphilis cases continue to be found in Erie County.

Two more cases of the sexually transmitted disease were reported in August to the Erie County Department of Health, and several others are pending for September, said Charlotte Berringer, R.N. director of community health for the county Health Department...
