Pakistan visitors to India will have to take oral polio vaccine

The Indian High Commission in Pakistan has issued an advisory on Wednesday that all adults and children travelling to India from Pakistan after January 30, 2014 are required to obtain Oral Polio Vaccination (OPV) at least six weeks prior to their departure to India, but not more than one year before the date of travel.

A statement said that travellers from Pakistan to India after January 30, 2014 are required to carry their vaccination record as evidence of polio vaccination and it will be requested for entry into India thereafter...

ISLAMABAD ? Officials in Pakistan have criticized as "overreaction" recent cross-border travel restrictions India has imposed to prevent the polio virus from entering the country.

Pakistan, Nigeria and Afghanistan are the only three nations across the globe where the crippling disease remains endemic.

Last week, the Indian diplomatic mission in Islamabad announced that travelers from Pakistan, both adults and children, would require mandatory polio vaccination at least six weeks prior to undertaking a trip to India.

The mission said that that the policy, which will come into effect from January 30, 2014, was meant "to safeguard India's polio-free status attained after sustained efforts and investment".

But Pakistani authorities have criticized the move...

ISLAMABAD: The deadline for all travellers from Pakistan to India to obtain polio vaccination and certificate has been extended to February 14, the Indian High Commission announced in a press statement on Friday.

"As informed earlier, all persons ? adults and children ? travelling to India from Pakistan are required to obtain Oral Polio Vaccination (OPV) at least six weeks prior to their departure to India, but not more than one year before such departure," the statement said...
