The Masago (Capelin Roe) was distributed to retail stores in Los Angeles (California), Baltimore (Maryland), Atlanta (Georgia), and Mexico.
The Masago (Capelin Roe) was packed 2 lb (907g) in plastic container with white label has Japanese writing and English writing that has ?Yamaya USA, Inc.? as the brand and the product label shows Masago (Capelin Roe) and the ?Item No. 09867? is indicated on the box.
No illnesses have been reported to date.
The recall was the result of a microbiological sampling of the facility by the FDA which revealed that the finished products contained the bacteria. The company has ceased the production and distribution of the product as FDA and the company continues their investigation as to what caused the problem.
