March 28 - RIA Novosti. Veterinarians Primorye completed vaccination of poultry against avian flu virus, which leads to more than 77,000 birds at backyard region, RIA Novosti reported on Monday a representative of regional veterinary services, but did not specify an end date of vaccination.

"Vaccination of domestic birds first began in Chernigov, Ussuri, Nadezhda and Spassky districts in late February. During the month of Veterinary campaign in 13 districts of the region were vaccinated more than 77,000 domestic birds,"
- told the agency interlocutor.

According to her, special attention is paid to vets those areas of the region, under which its migration routes of birds.

"The lion's share of vaccinated birds were chickens - 71,000, more than 4 thousand - the geese and ducks, about 2 thousand - the turkey. Thus, the annual plan of the Primorsky fully implemented" - said the agency interlocutor.

In the spring of 2008 in the province, an outbreak of bird flu in a village Vozdvizhenka Primorsky Krai - sick birds, contained in one of the household, but thanks to the prompt measures taken, including vaccination, failed to prevent the spread of dangerous infections.

Primorye pass through the path of migratory birds from Asia, which increases the risk of infection in poultry. Therefore, several areas of the region adjacent to nesting migratory birds, were taken by veterinarians under special control.
