The incidence of respiratory diseases has doubled during the past two weeks, so citizens are encouraged to be immunized against influenza, which now protects against four strains of this disease.

Hector Puertas Rincones, director of the Health District II of the state Health Department, said the normal prevalence of acute respiratory infections (ARI) at this boundary was only about two months of 1,200 new cases per week in all units State health.

But in the week from 6 to 11 this month attended 2,200 people affected by such conditions, and last week the doctors attended 2,400 people sick, that is, there was double the amount of Patients commonly recorded, he said.
This is mainly due to sudden changes of climate and contagion from one person to another, was unknown.

"In this situation, it is very important to strengthen the care against these diseases, especially with young children and older adults," he said.

He said that among the major respiratory diseases that are currently serving rhinitis, pharyngitis, otitis, bronchitis and pneumonia.
The basic recommendations for health care are warm clothing and avoid sudden temperature changes, wash hands frequently and staying away from sick people to prevent contagion, he added.

We recommend eating a balanced diet, drinking plenty of fluids, eat fruits and vegetables rich in vitamins A and C, and avoid exposure to environmental pollutants, he said.

He said that an alternative is recommended the vaccine against influenza, which now protects against two types and two subtypes of this disease.

"To date we have implemented 45 000 doses of influenza vaccine and there are still 75 000 doses available," he said. Remember that the goal of Health Services for this border is 120 thousand doses to as many people, so he urged the public to go to be immunized, he said.

Vaccination parameters remain the same a few weeks ago, that is, children six months to 5 years, adults over 60, people with chronic degenerative diseases and pregnant women from the fourth month of pregnancy, he said.

More vaccines are coming and it is important to note that this time the biological is the same to protect against four strains of influenza, H1N1, H3N2 and seasonal subtypes A and B, he said.
