The Ministry of Public Health of Sonora reported that in the year added
44 cases of people infected by the bacteria _Rickettsia_, five
whom died.
The head of the Department of Epidemiology, this dependence
State, Sergio Olvera Alba, said that in the southern region of the state is
where more cases of that disease that spreads through
bite of lice, ticks, fleas, mites.
He said that to date the disease has been detected in the municipalities
Guaymas, Ciudad Obreg?n, Hermosillo, Navojoa, Nogales, Quiriego,
Huatabampo, Puerto Pe?asco and Etchojoa.
On deaths attributable to this disease, two of them
Miguel reported in the German town of this municipality and other
three in Nogales, north of the entity, he said.
The bacteria is transmitted to humans through the bite of
ticks, he said, which are housed in pets
home, like dogs.
The doctor assumed that while dogs and cats are kept
clean, reduces the possibility of parasites which may have
be agents of disease.
He added that children are the age group most at risk,
they are those who have more direct contact with dogs and play in
the ground.
According to information from the SSP state remains a campaign
to inform communities about the importance of measures
to prevent rickettsiosis.

The infection mentioned in the present report corresponds to Mouth
Rocky Mountain Spotted. The species of
garrapatas_Rhipicephalus sanguineus_, _D. _e andersoni _Ixodes
dentatus_, are the vectors that transmit the causative agent _R.
rickettsii_. The usual clinical picture is that of a febrile illness
with purpuric skin rash, accompanied by myalgia, headache and
necrotic lesions. Severe forms also have kidney failure,
peripheral edema, dehydration, delirium, convulsions and coma, thrombosis
and pericarditis, with a mortality of 10-25%. In Mexico, is endemic
in the states of Coahuila and Sinaloa, with outbreaks of 30-40 people
