Suspected Measles cases in South Kordofan and Darfur
The number of suspected cases of measles this year is increasing. It reached 197 in Central and West Darfur, and 23 in South Kordofan according the State Ministries of Health (SMoH). This includes 21 new suspected cases
in the villages of Koroli Hashaba and Waranga in Zalingei locality, Central Darfur, and six cases Foro Baranga town, West Darfur. Five samples were sent for further laboratory analysis. In Darfur, health partners are conducting assessments to establish the coverage area and the number of people to be targeted in a vaccination campaign. The mission is also conducting ad hoc vaccinations where needed.

Measles outbreak hits national service camp of students in northern Sudan
May 24, 2012 (KHARTOUM) ? Nearly 40 students undergoing military training as part of mandatory national service in Sudan?s northern state of Nile River have been quarantined after they contracted measles.

Dr. Munir Mohamed Matar, general director of the state?s ministry of health, disclosed that two people died and another 50 got infected by measles in al-Sref Beni Hussein, Saraf Omra and Al-Waha localities in North Darfur, Radio Dabanga has learned on Tuesday October 23.
The general director told Radio Dabanga that two people died from measles in Jebel ?Aamer, al-Sref Beni Hussein locality. According to Dr. Munir?s statement there are at least 34 other cases in Saraf Omra, Mistreihah and Al-Waha localities...
77 measles cases registered in North Darfur

The incidence of measles cases in different areas of North Darfur, has increased to 77, as opposed to the 52 cases registered before Eid al-Adha, the Ministry of Health of North Darfur announced on Monday, 5 November.

Measles kills four children in El Salam camp, South Darfur

Four children have died of measles in El Salam camp for the displaced near Nyala, capital of South Darfur, and there are threats the camp ?might have to be dismantled?.
Speaking to Radio Dabanga on Friday, Sheikh Mahjoub Adam Tabaldiya attributed the children?s deaths a lack of medicine, health care and a food shortage at the camp.
Sheikh Tabaldiya reiterated that ?the displaced are going through very difficult humanitarian and heath circumstances, especially children, women and the elderly?. He warned that ?the camp might be dismantled from lack of food, medicine and due to organisations? stoppage of food provision to displaced people,? the sheikh said, appealing to the authorities and humanitarian NGOs to urgently provide food for the displaced...
