BANGKOK, May 10 (Xinhua) -- Thailand had one more death case due to the A/H1N1 influenza, bringing the country's death toll to 226, Public Health Minister Jurin Laksanawisit said Monday.

The A/H1N1 outbreak in Thailand has continued, especially at the anti-government rally site in central Bangkok, Jurin said, the National News Bureau of Thailand reported.

During last week, some 23 people were confirmed of contracting with the A/H1N1 influenza, the minister said.

Thailand had its first two confirmed patients on May 12 and was ranked 33rst as the country, which has been hit by the deadly new virus, according to the World Health Organization.

After the new flu outbreak, totally 36,950 people were confirmed of contacting with the A/H1N1 influenza.

BANGKOK, May 10 (TNA) ? One more death related to Influenza Type A(H1N1) was reported Monday, bringing the total death toll to 226, Public Health Minister Jurin Laksanavisit said.

The victim was a 52-year-old man living in northeastern province of Roi Et, according to the weekly report on the A(H1N1) flu situation between May 1-7.

The ministry also confirmed 23 new patients contracting the virus in the past week.

Counting from April 28, 2009 through May 7, Thailand recorded 226 cumulative fatalities and 36,950 persons infected with A(H1N1) virus.

Mr Jurin said 31,690 persons received the A(H1N1) vaccines in the past week, while the total vaccinated persons from January 11-May 7 reached 1,048,569 which is 52 per cent of the targeted number of 2,000,000 vaccinated persons.

The vaccinated groups included medical staff, pregnant women, persons weighing over 100 kilogrammes, critically disabled persons, patients suffering from chronic diseases, health volunteers, high-risk families, groups of persons and other persons who want to prevent themselves from exposure to the virus.

Following the report on vaccination in the past week, 13 persons slightly suffered after receiving shots.

In addition, all provincial health officials were urged to continue the vaccination campaign for the high-risk groups until May 31 Mr Jurin said.

The public health inspectors were assigned to follow up the programme, particularly vaccination for groups of persons such as health volunteers and soldiers in military bases, aiming to reach the targeted number of 2,000,000 vaccinated persons and to contain the spread of the virus among these groups.
