My theory is that it would - that folks would spend more because at least one adult is at home with their kids (pulling their hair out no doubt) so they will go to drive in fast food rest. , and anything that is outdoors. Business will also be forced to test how well they can stand on their feet with a good bit of the workforce at home with their kids. I'm predicting this "holiday" is around the corner......

Good for the economy? Possibly. Good for helping to slow the spread of the virus? Seems likely. If I had teen- or college-age kids, I'd definitely consider keeping them home next week until we learn more about this virus, especially considering that the average age of confirmed cases is holding steady at 16yo, and that everything we know suggests this age group is at increased risk for severe illness.
Good for the economy? Possibly. Good for helping to slow the spread of the virus? Seems likely. I assume you also mean daycares, most of which are private businesses. School is wrapping up in most of the country and kids will soon be elsewhere anyway.
My department at work will allow us to work from home if schools and daycares are closed. The problem comes when everyone in a group has kids too young to stay home by themselves, such as in my little group of three people. Two of us live in Fort Bend County, which has 4 suspected cases so far.

I was reminded yesterday by a public school teacher that it makes no sense to close schools for 2 weeks and then re-open for only one week. It's best at some point to just close them early for the summer.
