HAZARIBAG: As many as 2,542 positive cases of malaria were reported in the first six months this year from the district. According to the district malaria officer Prem Das, out of a total of 52,617 blood samples collected from all the 16 blocks of the district, 2,542 tested positive. "We have started treatment through micro plan," said Das.

Bishnugarh, Barkatha, Barhi and Churchu were worst affected with the maximum number of positive cases detected here. "The main cause of the outbreak was overflowing drains, waterbodies and poor sunlight in the hilly regions of the four blocks," explained Das...
