Question I have is how do they know if the antibodies are from natural infection or from the vaccine? Much seems unknown about anitbody profiles after vaccination.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Mid-South doctor has died of a COVID-related illness. However, he never knew he had the virus and he’d been vaccinated.
Dr. J Barton Williams, called a student of medicine and science, went from doctor to patient when he fell ill weeks ago. Dr. Stephen Threlkeld helped treat him at Baptist Hospital.
Threlkeld says the disease quickly went from diagnosis to death.
“It was matter of days,” Threlkeld said. “Just a tragedy.”
Williams, an Orthopedic Surgeon for OrthoSouth, died February 8 of multisystem inflammatory syndrome or MIS, a condition usually affecting children and attacking the immune system....

They want to dispel rumors this was a new variant of COVID. Threlkeld says they never found an active virus in Williams body.

“It does seem to be in every case we have seen so far to be related to the virus itself,” Threlked said. “It’s a post-viral, sometimes a few weeks later, a post-viral effect. Not during the first part of it.”

We asked if the vaccine could not be a protector against this because Williams had already been predisposed to the COVID virus.

“It’s a very important question. All preliminary,” Threlkeld said. “We are working with the CDC to see how vaccines can play in all directions. We don’t have any data to suggest the vaccine has any affect in either direction.”...

More in depth interview here with insight into how the antibody profile is being used to determine exposure to both the wild virus and the vaccine produced antibodies. I thought that the wild virus would simply produce more diverse antibodies, but it seems this vaccine produced a unique antibody.

Threlkeld added, Williams also had been vaccinated for COVID about a month ago and that testing found the two types of antibodies in his system - one type of antibody that results from a natural COVID infection, and a second type of antibody from the vaccine. Threlkeld also said Williams tested negative for COVID-19 while in the hospital.

There have also been questions about if MIS could be connected to getting the vaccine, or getting the vaccine shortly after having COVID.

"There is a theoretical worry that the vaccine would make you have more antibodies, and if this is driven by antibodies that could drive MIS," said Rice. "We don't think it is a real concern, but we are still getting data for the vaccine."

Rice added, "The worry isn't necessarily the vaccine. It's a vaccine on top of a person who already had COVID - and that could fire up the immune system and lead to MIS."

That said, he pointed out millions of vaccines have been given, and MIS is a rarity.

Last week the press reported on the tragic death of Dr. J. Barton Williams, a 36 year old orthopaedic surgeon in Memphis, TN, from complications of a prior asymptomatic COVID-19 infection.

His physicians have stated on the record that Dr. Williams died of a ?delayed immune response to COVID? ? or what clinicians describe as multi-system inflammatory syndrome (MIS).

What makes this death unusual and ominous is that Dr. Williams appears to have been an otherwise healthy 36 year old, whose only related issue was an asymptomatic COVID-19 infection a few weeks prior to his death ? AND that he developed his inflammatory disease after undergoing COVID-19 vaccination.

So what triggered the ?delayed? immune response to COVID-19 in Dr. Williams? body ? in a setting where all tests for replicating virus were negative at the time?
