More deaths from H1N1 are being reported by Alberta Health and Wellness today.

According to the ministry's website, four more people have succumbed to the virus, bringing the death toll to 38 since April and marking 18 fatalities announced in the last week.

The number of those who have been hospitalized with the virus also jumped by more than 100, reaching 755 cases since April.Dr. Andre Corriveau, the province's chief medical officer of health, said yesterday the second wave of the deadly virus appears to be cresting.

"I think in Alberta, we're very near that peak right now -- we seem to be noticing a plateau in terms of the activity," Corriveau said.

"That being said, even after this wave is passed, we do expect a third wave and we would expect far less than half of Albertans would have been exposed.

"The less people who are immunized, the bigger the third wave is going to be."
