The Regional Health Authority said that so far 780 have attended 57 thousand cases of acute respiratory infections and more than a thousand cases of pneumonia.

Aren't most of the people here decendants of the Inca Indian tribes? Indigenous?

Is it common for so many children to succumb to pnuemonia in this region? I am unfamiliar with it. Could someone explain it further. Thanks!
