Swine flu-related death 5th in Ottawa

Another Ottawa resident has died after getting swine flu, the city's chief medical officer of health said Thursday, bringing the number of H1N1-related deaths to five in the city.
Dr. Isra Levy didn't say much about the case, only that the victim was a male under the age of 65 who was suffering from an underlying medical condition.
Levy said that, over the past two weeks, there have been four new swine flu cases recorded in Ottawa. That's down significantly from the peak of the first wave in early June.
There have been 364 confirmed cases of swine flu in the city. Half of those infected were children and teenagers.
Levy said health officials expect to be able to start vaccinating people in mid- to late November, starting with people most at risk.
The public health department is readying several initiatives to get ready for flu season.
Levy said one of them is put dispensers of hand sanitizer in several public buildings.
Different agencies involved have been co-ordinating their efforts, he said.
There are also awareness posters being distributed all over town, and a flu line allows people to talk directly to a public nurse.
