Whooping cough outbreak declared in Alberta?s north region

An increase in the number of cases of whooping cough has led Alberta Health Services to declare an outbreak in its north zone.

There have been 182 whooping cough cases, or pertussis, confirmed in the north zone this year. Three cases have required hospitalization, said Dr. Chris Sikora, medical officer of health for the Edmonton zone, and who also specializes in pertussis...
