About 500,000 birds vaccinated in Russia in 24 hours - ministry

MOSCOW. April 20 (Interfax) - Over 480,000 chickens have been vaccinated against bird flu in Russia over the past 24 hours, the press service of the Emergency Situations Ministry told Interfax on Thursday.
Scheduled vaccination began in Russia on Mach 10, 2006. Over 26.86 million chickens and other birds have been vaccinated in Moscow and in 73 Russian regions, and 480,000 birds have been vaccinated in the past 24 hours," the press service said.
No cases of bird flu have been reported in the past 24 hours. Human cases of the disease have not been registered, either, the ministry said.
