NUEVO LAREDO .- The lack of implementation of the BCG vaccine against tuberculosis, to be provided to the baby at birth, is the reason why children of American origin who live in Nuevo Laredo, were affected by this disease.
Dr. Manuel Vega Flores, coordinator Microbacteriosis Clinic Health Center in Nuevo Laredo, said that children in this city are in this situation, they still have time to get vaccinated and protect themselves against this disease.
"The problem here is that there are many children born in the United States is a country not covered by this vaccine, but these children come to live here in Mexico and there is much tuberculosis and then they get sick," said the doctor.
Vega Flores, said that children who are in these cases, can receive the vaccine until 14 years and applied to the local Health Centre.
"Fortunately, this vaccine may be given up to 14 years and is free, we recommend applying as soon as possible because if there is a sick person in the family who can easily spread this disease," he said.
In this 2010-said-were three children who were infected by tuberculosis, to each of them have received treatment.
