...snipKABUL, May 10 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan reported 361 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, the biggest daily increase since the outbreak of the pandemic in February, the Ministry of Public Health confirmed.
The new infections have brought to 4,402 the total number of people infected to the virus, including 3,724 active cases as of Sunday morning throughout the country, the ministry said in a statement.
Five COVID patients died since early Saturday, bringing the death toll to 120.
Wahid Majroh, deputy health minister said out of 709 tests across the country in the past 24 hours, 285 were positive and two patients had died of Covid-19, taking the total number of infections to 4,687 and death toll to 122. There have so far been 574 recoveries.

ABUL, May 18 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan on Monday reported 408 new confirmed COVID-19 cases within 24 hours, bringing the number of total cases in the country to 7,072, the country's Ministry of Public Health said.
The new infections have brought to 6,098 the total number of active cases as of Monday morning throughout the country, the ministry said in a statement.
Three COVID-19 patients died since early Sunday, bringing the death toll to 173.
The Ministry of Public Health on Sunday said that it registered 581 new positive cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours--the highest number of cases reported in a day so far in Afghanistan--bringing the total positive cases to 7,653
