African swine fever found in Lithuanian pig complex

VILNIUS, July 24 (Xinhua) -- An outbreak of African swine fever (ASF) has been reported in a Lithuanian pig complex on Thursday, according to BNS news agency.

The Lithuanian State Food and Veterinary Service said that ASF has been confirmed in a large farm complex in Ignalina district which locates at the northeast part of the Baltic country.

The complex belongs to the Danish-owned pig producer Idavang. Around 20,000 pigs are kept in the complex...

One more case of African swine fever (ASF) has been detected in Lithuania.

The virus, that causes mass death rates in pigs, was found in a farmstead in the Utena district, the Ministry of Agriculture said on Wednesday.

According to the Ministry, the farmer's pigs were treated with antibiotics but later died due to the disease. It's been confirmed the pigs suffered a case of African swine fever...

On Thursday, the Extreme Situation Commission of Utena district declared a state of emergency due to African swine fever (ASF) in Tauragnai and Saldutiskis parishes at the local level, informs ELTA/LETA.

African swine fever continues to threaten Lithuania

VILNIUS, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- A sixth case of African Swine Fever (ASF) was registered in Ignalina district of Lithuania, announced the State Food and Veterinary Service on Monday.

"The fresh outbreak was registered in a farm located around 1.5 kilometers from Belarus border," said the service in a statement.

Soon after finding two dead pigs in a domestic farm, the service took samples of all four pigs in the farm. All samples were ASF positive, said the Service...
