Students at Clear Water Academy possibly exposed to measles

CALGARY ? Officials are warning parents and children who visited Clear Water Academy a week ago that they may have been exposed to measles.

Alberta Health Services is cautioning those who were in Keller Hall during the school day on January 28, 29 and 30th to check their immunization records and watch for signs of the illness.

Officials say a child who contracted measles was in Keller Hall between 8:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. on those dates...

Camrose residents exposed to measles disease

...Alberta Health Services(AHS) sent out a health advisory Feb. 19th alerting the public to potential exposures of the highly contagious disease in the Camrose area.

On Feb. 1st an individual carrying the disease visited the Camrose Community Centre Field House, Humpty?s Restaurant, Subway (6800 48th Ave.) and Tim Hortons (6602 48th Ave.).

The release said anyone who attended any of those locations on Feb. 1 may have been exposed to the disease, but AHS medical officer of health Dr. Digby Horne was quick to add that residents shouldn?t be worried about attending any of these locations now...

Alberta Health Services is expected to release more details on two confirmed cases of measles where one of the cases has affected a Calgary high school student.

Officials say the other case is related to the first, but is not travel-related.

Parents and students at Western Canada High School, the affected facility, are being warned to watch for flu-like symptoms which could indicate an early case of the disease...

... This is the second time this year Western Canada High School has been affected by measles.

The confirmed cases are the fifth and sixth in the City of Calgary this year...

In a health advisory, Alberta Health Services has confirmed a single case of measles in Edmonton and are advising of potential exposures.

Individuals who were at two locations on Edmonton's west end on March 25 or 26, 2014 may have been exposed.

AHS says that people who were at the West End Registries, located at 10011 - 170 St, between 7:40 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., and at Callingwood Safeway, 6655 - 178 St, between 8:30 p.m. to 10:50 p.m. on March 25 may have been exposed.

Additionally, Edmontonians may have been exposed if they were at the West End Registries on March 26, between 7:40 a.m. and 8:40 p.m...

...The latest measles case in the Edmonton area involves a child who flew to Edmonton from the Philippines via Vancouver, said Marcia Johnson, Edmonton Zone Medical Officer of Health.

The health authority warns that anyone on Air Canada Flight AC248 that departed Vancouver at 8:30 p.m. on April 9 and arrived in Edmonton at 11:35 p.m. may have been exposed.

People who were in Edmonton International Airport between 11:35 p.m. on April 9 and 2 a.m. on April 10 could also have been exposed to the extremely contagious virus....

EDMONTON - Another case of the measles has sprung up in Alberta.

Alberta Health Services confirmed a single case of the measles near Redwater and Bon Accord.

Anyone who had been in these areas ? specifically on Friday, April 11, at Bon Accord Foods (4915 - 50 St.) between 9:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. and at the Redwater Health Centre between 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 13, until 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15 ? may have been exposed to the disease.

This would be the 16th confirmed case in Alberta this year.

Two cases of measles are confirmed in Edmonton. The last one has been linked to a Vancouver-Edmonton flight earlier this month, prompting a warning from health officials. An infected child was travelling to Edmonton via Vancouver from the Philippines on April 9. Passengers and crew of Air Canada Flight 248 departed from Vancouver and landed at the Edmonton International Airport. Officials say all on board are at risk for infection, as is anyone who may have been in the airport between 11:30 p.m. April 9 and 2 a.m. April 10...

According to AHS, the patient who contracted the measles, Calgary's eighth case of 2014, is an adult. This case of measles is not related to travel and the patient does not have paperwork indicating they had been immunized...
